Biography
Dr. O’Neal is an associate professor and extension health and wellness specialist.
Prior to joining the Department of Family, Youth and Community Sciences at the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences, she completed postdoctoral research training in the development, implementation, and evaluation of obesity interventions in the Division of Preventive Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine.
Dr. O’Neal’s research program focuses on identifying and addressing individual, social, community, and environmental factors associated with healthy lifestyle behaviors and cardiometabolic conditions among rural adults. Her extension programs focus on community-driven strategies to prevent and manage chronic conditions among Floridians.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, visiting parks, and traveling to nearby beaches.
