    Admissions and How to Apply

    What are the admissions criteria?

A bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution or a comparable degree from an international institution.

An undergraduate GPA of at least a B (3.0), calculated from all grades and credits after the semester where the applicant reached 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours (see the FAQs for help calculating).

Each person’s academic journey is different. If you find yourself with a GPA lower than a 3.0 there might be avenues to acceptance. We understand that the student you were 5 or 10 years ago is not necessarily the student you will be. Please contact us to discuss your individual situation.

    When are applications due?

Your complete application and all supporting documents (resume, transcripts, letters of recommendation, and statement of purpose) must be received by the following due date for the semester you plan to start courses.

    Dates and Deadlines

Spring Start Summer B Start Fall Start
    Classes begin January May August
Apply by November 15 March 15 July 15

    How do I apply?

Below you will find detailed information on the application process. As you read through this information, keep in mind that our staff are available to discuss the program, the admissions process, and address any questions.

    Graduate Certificate Application Checklist Oncampus

    • Meet With Us

We enjoy talking to prospective students! Set up a call or video chat with us. In addition to talking about the specifics of the program, we can help you

      • Demystify pursuing a graduate-level certificate by giving you an overview of what our program is like,
      • Decide if we are the right program to help you reach your goals, and
      • Learn the steps for applying.

We’re here to help you go back to school, even if your GPA wasn’t a 3.0 or it’s been a while since you last took a class.

    • Resume

Your resume (1-2 pages) must be emailed with your other supporting documents (see the “ After You Apply?” section) and should highlight your educational and professional experiences.

A statement of purpose helps us understand why you are interested in the program, how you see yourself benefiting from the program, and a bit about your past experiences.

We require and essay that answers the following questions in less than 500 words:

      • How will your previous experience or educational background in the nonprofit sector contribute to your ability to complete this rigorous online graduate certificate program successfully?
      • What contributions will you bring to required courses for interactive learning?
      • How will you be a good fit for the program based on specific coursework?

Your statement of purpose must be emailed with your other supporting documents (see the “After You Apply” section).

    • Letters of Recommendation

Submit one letter of recommendation from an academic or professional source in a supervisory role who can provide a well-rounded perspective of your background and character. Email the letter with your other supporting documents (see the “After You Apply” section).

    • Transcripts
      • Current or former UF student? We have your transcripts, so no need to send them.
      • An official copy must be submitted directly to the UF Office of Admissions from previous institutions (either electronically or via mail):
