    Careers for FYCS Graduates

The field of human services, particularly family and youth development, stands at a critical intersection of social impact and professional opportunity.

The demand for skilled professionals who can navigate complex social challenges while leading nonprofit organizations continues to grow exponentially.

Current Landscape of Human Services Leadership

Recent data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics projects a 12% growth in community and social service occupations through 2029, significantly faster than the average for all occupations. This growth reflects the increasing recognition of how specialized human services interventions can address persistent social challenges:

    • Mental health concerns among youth have increased by 52% in the past decade
    • Family systems face unprecedented pressures from economic instability
    • Nonprofit organizations are being called upon to fill crucial gaps in social services

As these challenges intensify, organizations are seeking professionals with advanced training who understand the intricate relationship between evidence-based practice, policy development, and program implementation.

Below we list some examples of careers our students go into, in a few cases additional academic work or certifications are required.
