Objectives: After completing this class session you will be able to

Identify your own working style
Based on your style, be cognizant of the roles you will best serve on the team
Identify areas where you can improve your team roles

Class Preparation

Complete the Working Styles Assessment at least one day before class.

After completing the process, review the additional information about the styles. Think as objectively as possible about your style and its implications for your work -- on this team and in your larger professional life. Try to identify the aspects of each of your working style that will make you a valuable fit on a team in this class. What role(s) will you be particularly "good at"? Also identify the Which areas do you think you need to be cautious and aware of the pitfalls for you in interacting with people who have traits that could cause frustration for others in the team. I encourage you to have a 15-minute or so discussion in your team to identify potential pitfalls for your team. For example, if your team has multiple "drivers," you may find you have conflicts that result from each driver feeling strongly that their perspective is correct. On the other hand, if there are too many amianble people on your team, you may face real obstacles in completing assignments and other tasks efficiently and effectively. Identifying the pitfalls for your group before they happen" can be one way to avoid this problem.
