This curriculum is designed primarily for parents of
adolescents and adults who work with adolescents.
Sessions are flexible enough, however, to include
adolescents as participants.
This curriculum is based on an earlier version of
Florida’s unpublished curriculum, “Teening-Up” with your
Adolescent: Ages 10 – 16 (1997).
Each session can be taught as a stand-alone workshop.
Information and concepts overlap across sessions and, in
such cases, will cross-reference other relevant sections
and related resources.
Although we support the idea that all youth are
"at-risk," the curriculum was not created for situations in which parents and
adolescents are in clear danger. The emphasis is more on prevention than
intervention. If you sense there are more serious problems
teens and parents are facing, please refer them to
professional counselors, individual and family
therapists, or other mental health providers.
