Objectives

After completing this class, you will be able to:

  • Use three theoretical perspectives, structural funcationalism, conflict theory, and social exchange theory, to assess how social order forms, is maintained or weakens;
  • Evaluate the role of power, status, and authority in creating, maintaining, and challenging social order;
  • Assess how key concepts of social exchange theory can be used to develop and implement programs to address the needs, problems and issues that arise in contemporary communities; and
  • Evaluate the role of cultural and social capital and social networks in the process of social change.

Be sure to select a teammate and an article to read for next week. Teams of two, please.
