Nayda I. Torres is Professor and Chair of the Department of Family, Youth and Community Sciences and Program Leader-Extension, Family and Consumer Sciences in the Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences at the University of Florida.  She has been with the University of Florida for 21 years.  Her specialty is Family and Consumer Economics.

She received her Ph.D. from The Ohio State University; her M.S. from Purdue University; and her B.A. in Home Economics Education from the University of Puerto Rico.  Before coming to Florida, she worked at the University of Puerto Rico and at the University of Georgia.

Dr. Torres has received over $20,000,000 in grant dollars.  She is the recipient of numerous awards and she is a member of numerous national and state organizations.
