Job Title: Associate Professor - Program Planning and Evaluation

Job ResponsibilitiesTeaching and Advising:  Teach graduate program planning and evaluation courses in the Family, Youth and Community Sciences (FYCS) interdisciplinary social science degree program.  Serve on graduate education, thesis and dissertation research committees. Serve on courses and curriculum development committee for the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences (college), as well as Global Gators committee for the college (focus on internationalization the curriculum and developing faculty/student international experiences, etc.).

Evaluation Research:  Conduct program evaluations for family, youth and/or community related Extension programs.

Cooperative Extension Specialist:  Assist county faculty by providing statewide training, one-on-one technical assistance, resources and support in the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of their Extension education programs in the areas of family and consumer sciences and 4-H youth development.

Grant proposal writing:  Secured $435,363, in grant funds during this period.

Training & Development:  Provide international, national, and statewide training in the areas of program planning, evaluation, diversity, and multi-cultural programming,

Job ResponsibilitiesProgram and fiscal management: Served as Principal Investigator and Project Director to two federally funded programs related to health and nutrition.  Program Design, Development, and Evaluation:  Developed and managed innovative, age appropriate youth programs related to health and nutrition that utilizes the  experiential learning model and current youth development principals. This program focused on multicultural and ethnically diverse youth.

Served as 4-H District Liaison to South Central District:  Provide training, technical assistance, and support to 4-H Agents in the district.  Assist new agents in developing their 4-H programs.

Grant proposal writing:  Secured $783,000 in grant funds at NCSU.

Training & Development:  Provide national, regional and statewide training in the areas of program planning, evaluation, diversity, multi-cultural programming, community assets mapping, conducting needs assessments, life skills, grant writing, etc.

Establish collaborative partnerships with local, state, public and private agencies that share a programmatic interest: Built relationships with several agencies and community-based organizations that had not worked with 4-H in the past. 

Supervision:  Supervise one professional, one paraprofessional and two support staff.

Wake Area Health Education Center (AHEC)

Job Title:  Program Coordinator, Community-based Public Health 

Job ResponsibilitiesProgram Planning & Implementation:  Designed and implemented 82 programs that reached over 1,000 adolescent youth with information on health careers in the nine county AHEC region as well as Chatham and Orange Counties. Also, designed and implemented a comprehensive youth development program that provided a core group of 128 students with ongoing, innovative programs and services that enhanced their health, career awareness, personal development, academic enrichment and upward mobility. A key program emphasis was increasing the number of minorities in the health professions. Program Evaluation: Developed a computerized evaluation and tacking system, with technical assistance from a computer programmer, which monitored outcomes and impacts of the 128 core students over a three-year period.  Program & Fiscal Management: Managed a total budget of $500,000 at AHEC. Prepared quarterly and annual reports.

Supervision: Supervised program assistants, secretary and student interns.

Job Title:  Interim Director, Public Health Continuing Education (CE)

Job ResponsibilitiesProgram Design, Implementation & Evaluation: Conducted needs assessments.  Managed program marketing and publicity.  Designed, implemented and evaluated continuing education programs that served hundreds of public health professionals in the Wake AHEC region.  Program & Fiscal Management: Prepared and monitored  CE program budgets. Negotiated contracts with hotels and conference centers. Prepared CE closeout reports.  Collaboration:  Collaborated with Schools of Public Health, health departments, hospitals and other health related organizations.

Supervision:  Supervised two CE Program Assistants.
