Strengthening Families


The primary goal of this departmental emphasis is to help families in Florida to enhance their abilities to deal with life's transitions and changing circumstances. Specific emphases include:

  • strengthening parents' ability to provide safe, caring and stimulating homes for their children;
  • improving the quality of child care by providing training for child care workers;
  • improving marital and family relationships;
  • establishing and/or supporting accessible, affordable child and elder care;
  • increasing the ability of older adults to remain independent; and
  • improving caregivers' ability to provide quality in home care to aging family members.
