Personal and Family Well-Being

Florida families are increasingly diverse and include teenage parents, single parents, dual-earner families, families of military service personnel, aging adults, and caregiving families. In order to help support the needs of individuals and families across the lifespan, FYCS develops and provides programming in areas related to stress, developmental issues, and building resilience. FYCS faculty strive to address the critical concerns Floridians face including

  • child development
  • parenting
  • marital and family communication across the lifecycle
  • child care
  • elder care
  • poverty

  • bully prevention
  • teens and healthy relationships
  • effects of media on children and family relationships

  • domestic violence
  • obesity
  • disasters such as hurricanes or the recent oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
