Chronic Disease Risk Reduction
Health & Nutrition Extension programs are designed to educate program participants and provide them with skills needed to change lifestyle behaviors to reduce their risk of major chronic diseases and conditions including heart disease, cancer, obesity, diabetes, hypertension, and stroke. Research projects are designed to strengthen Extension education programs through increased understanding of target audiences and program evaluation studies. Unless otherwise noted, Extension education programs are designed for adult audiences. Most have been developed using the Health Belief Model and experiential learning approaches. Lessons include a variety of teaching methods to reach different types of learners.
