Building Healthy Communities

Extension faculty collaborate with agencies and organizations at local and state levels to:

Promote healthy lifestyle choices including early detection of disease and immunization of young children;
Provide opportunities for community members to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to address health care concerns;
Bring together public and private sector representatives to lower barriers to community health care;
Support the development of strategic partnerships and coalitions involving health care providers, educators, and consumers; and
Facilitate the development of community-based solutions to local health care needs.
