Curriculum Vitae

Dr. Pracht, has been a faculty member in the Department of Family, Youth and Community Sciences at the University of Florida since 2007. His appointment is 70% extension work and 30% teaching. He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses relating to Nonprofits and Community Based Youth Organizations and is the State 4-H Extension Specialist, Community Based Organizational Systems for Community Based Organizations.

Before joining the Department he worked as Assistant Director for the Texas A&M University Career Center. In addition to working in the Career Center, he has also been an Assistant 4-H Youth Specialist and a 4-H Youth Agent in Kansas.

In 2007, he received his Ph.D. degree in Agricultural Education from Texas A&M University. His dissertation emphasis was on evaluating the cognitive process of students enrolled in a 20-hour service-learning experience while enrolled in a collegiate social problems course. He received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from Kansas State University.

His specialties are service-learning, youth leadership development, volunteer management in nonprofit organizations, career education, college student development, leadership of organizational systems, and youth and adult education.

Dr. Pracht provides statewide leadership on the Organizational Strategies Focus Team and is the Military Liaison for the Military Club Project for Florida and Air Force Installations in Europe. He serves on the Board of Directors for the International FarmHouse Fraternity and serves as the Research and Evaluation Chair for NAE4-HA and sits on the Publication Board for The Journal of Youth Development. He has received the Achievement in Service Award for Outstanding Contributions to 4-H by the National Association of Extension 4-H Agents. Several of his articles relating to volunteer involvement, youth life skill development, and community improvement have been published in academic journals. Dr. Pracht has presented workshops, seminars and trainings for international, national, state, and local clientele.
